Jobs @ Wenzel

Here you will find all the information about our jobs and salaries,
us as a company, your areas of work and benefits.

Who?

The first Wenzel opened in Dresden in 1998, and we are currently represented at 8 locations with our mix of Bohemian and modern cuisine.

We combine traditional recipes with current trends in home-style cooking. Our restaurants with their authentic design create an atmosphere of well-being and conviviality.

Despite the high quality of our food and drinks, the Wenzel offers moderate prices for a broad middle-class clientele with a family-friendly focus.

Where?

When you work for us, you have the choice between eight different locations:

Boltenhagen, Chemnitz, Dresden, Halle, Leipzig, Magdeburg, Warnemünde and Zwickau.

In addition to two Wenzel restaurants, Dresden is also home to our office and our sister concepts “Am Thor” and the “Terence Hill Eis Saloon”.

What?

We are always looking for new colleagues for kitchen and service. Whether it’s a full-time, part-time or full-time position: anything is possible with us. It’d be great if your German is at a B2 level.

You can even help out at other locations if you like. Want to get a taste of the Baltic Sea and support the team in Warnemünde or Boltenhagen? We take care of everything!

Of course, we are primarily looking for people with first experience in the catering industry, but it is much more important to us to find a great addition to our team, so career changers are also welcome!

FAQ

Two things are important to us: that you are not only paid fairly, but also treated fairly. Paying above the minimum wage is one thing, the other is that you should feel comfortable in your work and in our team. We realise this time and time again when we meet up with our team from all over Germany: It’s incredibly informal, warm and entertaining. We support each other, contribute our own ideas and continue to develop our company together. You should feel valued by us, be able to develop (if you want to) and enjoy coming to work. There are always difficult days everywhere, but nobody has to go through them alone with us.

Even if we have different wages at different locations, one thing always remains the same: fair pay above the minimum wage is important to us. In addition, there is a fair distribution of tips for the whole team, as well as all bonuses for night work, work on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays. Depending on experience and commitment, the salary may look like this:

Hours  Hourly Rate  Gross basic salary
Head waitress17314,42 €2.499,42 €
Restaurant staff13014,42 €1.874,60 €
Service Assistant8713,39 €1.160,51 €
Deputy kitchen manager17316,56 €2.870,34 €
Shift cook13015,08 €1.960,40 €
Cook17314,42 €2.499,42 €
Service Assistant13013,39 €1.740,70 €
Kitchen assistant17313,39 €2.320,89 €
In addition to fair pay, other things are also important to us. For example, we want our team to be able to be at home on Christmas Eve and thus are always closed – because the rest of the Christmas period is naturally in high demand for restaurants. We also don’t work into the New Year on New Year’s Eve, but close on normal times so that you can spend time with your loved ones.

We also want to support other things. For example, we think it’s great if you want to do something for your physical and mental fitness at the gym – we are happy to support this by contributing to the costs.

Absolutely. For us, gastronomy is not just something we do, but a highly complex field: from the back office to the management and kitchen to service, we are all responsible for creating a wonderful memory for the guest. Because that’s what gastronomy is all about: experience, enjoyment, creating memories! So we support each other and value every single person in this process. However, we also have clear boundaries: If a guest or team member is unfair to you or makes you feel uncomfortable, we clearly stand in front of you. We are there for each other, that is very important to us!
